Preparing for Your Visit
Thank you for selecting Rutherford Regional as your healthcare provider of choice. Whether you come as a patient for emergency care, day surgery, the birth of your baby, or admission from your primary physician, you will always be treated professionally and with compassion during your stay. Please review the information below to make your visit as smooth as possible.
Registration
Help us provide the best healthcare possible. Registration is the time that we collect or update your information that is critical to patient safety and also to quickly and accurately process claims for services you have received. Bring your insurance card and some form of identification such as a driver's license.
Insurance
Know your co-pays, deductibles and co-insurances. You should check with your health insurance company or your Human Resources Department to understand the portion (out-of-pocket) you will be responsible for to pay your healthcare providers.
Advance Directives
It's important for the Rutherford Regional staff to know exactly how you want to be cared for, particularly in critical moments. A Living Will is a document expressing your wishes for treatment in times when you can't express those wishes yourself.
Glasses, Hearing Aids, Dentures
Just like at home, small or inconspicuous items such as eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures may be lost if not stored in a safe place when you are not using them. Please take care when you remove these items not to place them on food trays or on the bed, where they can be easily lost when these items are removed.
All postal mail will be delivered to your room. It will help if your full name and room number are on the envelope.
Money and Valuables
Leave your valuables at home. Take only those things that you need to be comfortable during your stay. Rutherford Regional cannot accept responsibility for any personal property which you may keep with you. Please ask family members to take your valuables home.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available on all nursing units, but getting in and out of them without assistance may be hazardous. Please ask for help from a member of the Hospital staff.
Valuable or Lost Items
Patients should not bring any items of value to the Hospital. If you do bring a valuable item, it should be deposited in the Hospital's safe. The Hospital does not accept responsibility for items of value unless they are deposited in the safe. If you lose something, please notify your nurse immediately, and we will make every effort to help you find it.
